Voters turn to therapy to handle election anxiety
Doomscrolling. Catastrophizing. Sleeplessness. Angst over Tuesday's presidential election has reached a fever pitch across the country, as Americans fear democracy is on the decline and disunity on the rise.
KPBS spoke with several local voters about their election-related distress, as well as San Diego therapist David Peters, who said both his clients and colleagues are tense about what may happen next in the United States.
Peters said it’s important for people to practice deep breathing and take extra care of their minds and bodies during this time. He reminds them that the country has faced challenges in the past and pulled through.
