Documenters program helps shine sunlight on public meetings
KPBS' Public Matters partner, inewsource, has a new program to encourage civic engagement across the county. It’s called San Diego Documenters, and it trains and pays community members to attend public meetings and document what happens. From there, journalists write news stories.
The program is meant to engage people who want to help their communities understand the decisions being made at the local government level and how those decisions impact them.
Documenters program coordinator Isaac Brambila and inewsource managing editor Jamie Self joined KPBS to explain more.
