In search of hope: Veterans turn to psychedelic treatment in Tijuana
Ibogaine is a hallucinogen extracted from the root bark of the iboga tree. It’s a Central African shrub that’s been used in shamanistic rituals for centuries. Some researchers believe it has potential to help with addiction, PTSD, and traumatic brain injuries. KPBS health reporter Heidi de Marco says while the drug is illegal in the United States, military veterans and others are traveling abroad to get it.
