Awards season is in full swing so it must be time to make a Ten Best List and hand out some awards.
Honorable mention to: "We Are Still Here," "Ex Machina," "Drown," "Phoenix," And "Room."
Best films that never played in San Diego: "The Forbidden Room," "Hard to Be a God," "Tokyo Tribe," "Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter," and "Black Coal, Thin Ice." (The best of these was "Bone Tomahawk" and that was so good I still placed it on my ten best list.)
Best Short Films (all of these played at Horrible Imaginings Film Festival, for which I was a selection committee member): "Bunny," "My Mother's Song," "The Huckster."
Big Sigh of Relief Award: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
