A San Diego State University student was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman during a party near the campus this past weekend.
Francisco Paiva Sousa, 20, was taken into custody about 2:15 p.m., university police Capt. Josh Mays said.
The woman reported the assault occurred Sunday at a house on College Avenue near Montezuma Road. She identified Sousa as the assailant, police said.
Sousa was expected to be booked into county jail on suspicion of forcible oral copulation and false imprisonment.
Campus police said 17 campus-related sexual assaults have been reported at SDSU in 2014, including 13 since the start of the fall semester. Six of those reported assaults occurred at fraternities.
