District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis today became the second San Diego mayoral candidate to file nominating papers, a necessary step to be placed on the June 5 primary ballot.
Councilman Carl DeMaio filed his papers last week.
Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, and Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, R-San Diego, are expected to file their papers on Thursday, which is the deadline.
Filing the nominating papers is one of a number of steps a candidate must take before the election.
Outside the city clerk's office, Dumanis reiterated her main campaign theme of being the only major candidate with executive experience, as the head of an agency with 1,000 employees.
"We want to get San Diegans back into jobs, get our schools fixed and bring real pension reform,'' Dumanis said.
In the city attorney race, incumbent Jan Goldsmith filed his nominating papers on Monday. Since no other candidates have taken out papers from the city clerk's office, it appears he will seek re-election unopposed.
