As California Republicans gear up for a competitive general election in November, many turned up in San Diego to lend their support to their party. Several Republicans talked about what it means to them to be a part of the GOP in California.
Donald Erwin, a 77-year-old man from San Diego, said: "Our state is a business, we need to grow it as a business. Right now we can get rid of three quarters of the people in government and still carry on the business of government."
Patricia Bowler, from Diamond Bar is a proud mother. She raised her three sons under what she considers Republican values: love of the country, faith and family. For Patricia: "Democrats don't have any values."
Retired reporter Lee Schell, from San Jose, considers that his "goal as a Republican is to preserve the American way of life."
Kelly, from Santa Barbara, works for bigtimeconservative.com, an online store and blog dedicated "to educate people on what it means to be a conservative". Kelly sells many patriotic items and she believes in lower taxes and less government.
