Tea Party activists gathered for Tax Day protests around San Diego County Thursday. They rallied for lower taxes and less government.
A crowd of a few dozen people waved American Flags and held up anti-tax signs at an Anti-Tax rally Thursday morning at Tuna Park, near the Embarcadero. The event was held in connection to a campaign rally for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina. She told the crowd, "All Americans have become members of a single party -- the 'had enough party.”'
Tea Party activist Don Birmingham said he agrees.
“I’ve been a Tea Partier for the last year and I feel the Tea Party is instrumental in trying to bring the Democrats and the Republicans back into control," said Birmingham. He added that he thinks taxes are too high.
"We need to stimulate the economy. We won’t do it by raising taxes, we’ll do it by lowering taxes,” he said.
Nearly a dozen Tea Party rallies were scheduled throughout the county, and more than 800 were planned nationwide.
