With Clint Eastwood directing and Bradley Cooper playing the title role, casting directors of the Chris Kyle biopic "American Sniper" were still looking for someone to play Kevin Lacz, a Navy SEAL teammate of Kyle's.

Just so happens Lacz was available to play the role.

Like Kyle, Lacz was a member of SEAL Team 3, based in Coronado. Lacz told The Middletown Press News:

“You get to a SEAL team, you got your trident, you feel on top of the world. Then you go to Iraq and absolutely crush it. Then one of your guys gets killed next to you.

“There was epic highs and huge lows.”
After meeting future wife Lindsay in San Diego, Lacz decided to retire from the SEALs.

As Lacz explained to the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star, he was serving as the technical adviser on "American Sniper" when Cooper suggested Lacz audition for the role of, well, Lacz.

He got the part.

Lacz said the highlight of shooting so far was when Eastwood gave him the thumbs up on his performance:

“He said, ‘Damn good job, son,’ which was pretty cool coming from a director like Mr. Eastwood. He’s so amazing: nice, smart and sincere. And he’s so prepared each day that most things are done on the first take.”

MoveAmericaForward.org conducted an interview with Lacz in 2011 about his work as a SEAL. Take a look below:
