Blue Angels Visit MCAS Miramar To Plan For Air Show (Video)

Pilots from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels visited Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Wednesday to discuss their role in the 2014 Miramar Air Show.

The Blue Angels will headline this year's show, which is scheduled for Oct. 4-5. According to a Miramar news release...

Other notable attractions include the Marine Air Ground Task Force demonstration, the F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and the Patriots Jet Team.

Last July, the Blue Angels announced new team members for the 2014 season, and two San Diegans (one former, one current) made the cut:

  • Navy Lt. j.g. Amber Lynn Daniel, 32, from Ramona. She is currently assigned to the Navy Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Washington, D.C. Daniel will serve as Public Affairs Officer.
  • Pre-selected to join the team was Navy Lt. Cmdr. Declan Hartney, 43, of Limerick, Ireland, who is currently assigned to Naval Special Warfare Support Activity 1 (NSWSA-1) at Naval Amphibious Base (NAB) Coronado. Hartney will serve as Maintenance Officer.

The Blue Angels were scheduled to perform at the 2013 Miramar Air Show, but sequestration cuts forced the team to cancel their entire season.
