The Japanese military rescued a U.S. Air Force pilot from the Pacific Ocean Tuesday after he was forced to eject from his disabled F-15 fighter jet off the coast of Okinawa.

According to a U.S. Air Force news release, Japan Air Self Defense Force rescue squadron crews found the pilot roughly 70 miles east of Okinawa at around nine in the morning Japan time.

The pilot, assigned to Kadena Air Base, is in stable condition at an American military hospital. His identity has not yet been released.
