Navy Photographer Awarded Purple Heart in San Diego (Video)

Do you ever wonder about the men and women who capture some of the amazing images that appear on Home Post? Military photographers often risk their lives to document the experience of being in a war zone. One of those photographers is Mass Communications Specialist 2nd Class Jonathan Chandler. This haunting photo of an Afghan child (above) was taken by MC2 Chandler while he was in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Chandler is assigned to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. He was recently in San Diego for a special ceremony, one in which he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in an IED blast.
