The trophy that will end up in the hands of either Michigan State or the University of North Carolina at the upcoming Quicken Loans Carrier Classic is almost ready for the big day. Shipbuilders poured molten pewter into a mold to make the trophy at the Newport News Shipbuilding foundry on Friday, according to the Virginian-Pilot.
Carrier Classic organizers announced last week President Barack Obama will attend the game to be played on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson in San Diego Bay on Veterans Day. The USS Vinson is the aircraft carrier from which Osama bin Laden's burial at sea took place.
