Navy Ship Gets Labor Leader's Name
The Navy Secretary made it official Wednesday, the last in a line of massive new cargo ships will carry the name Cesar Chavez. The news was heralded by the people building the ship in San Diego. Listen to the story.
Cesar Chavez, who co-founded the United Farm Workers Union, has been the recipient of many posthumous honors, including a state holiday. Yesterday, the Secretary of the Navy announced in San Diego that Chavez would receive another honor, a new Navy supply ship would be named after him.
But one of San Diego's congressmen has a problem with that.
