Military leaders trying to figure out how to implement the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell finally have some guidance. Today the Pentagon released its repeal game plan, according to the Department of Defense website. There are four bench marks the plan outlines that the branches of the military must meet. First there's pre-repeal, then implementation, then certification that shows DADT was implemented, and finally sustainment of the implementation. Clear as mud?
The Pentagon's plan is expected to take several months to put into place. The Advocate gives some good background on this:
Don't Ask, Don't Tell - the law that banned gays and lesbians from openly serving in the military - has been in effect since 1993.
