Friday on Midday Edition, a special broadcast of a KPBS-UC San Diego Mayoral Issues Forum with candidates Assemblymember Todd Gloria and City Councilmember Barbara Bry.
The forum was moderated by KPBS metro reporter Andrew Bowen with additional questions from three panelists representing UC San Diego.
The goal of the forum was to help voters understand who the candidates for San Diego mayor are, what they stand for and who best represents their interests and the interests of all San Diegans. The candidates also discussed social equity, the housing crisis and the COVID-19 recovery.
Both Gloria and Bry are Democrats. But they have very different ideas on issues facing the city. There isn't much public polling in the race. Two polls commissioned by the San Diego Union-Tribune and 10News suggest the candidates are neck-and-neck, though some have criticized the pollster's methodology.
