A naked mole rat is the star of San Diego author and illustrator Andrea Zuill’s latest book, "Sweety."

In real life, naked mole rats are pink and nearly hairless rodents— not the cutest creature.

But in the world Zuill creates in "Sweety," mole rats wear clothes and are a bit cuter than the real thing. The book teaches young readers, that no matter how you look, to embrace what makes them one of a kind.

Zuill joins Midday Edition on Monday to discuss her inspiration for the book.

She will discuss and sign "Sweety" at The Book Catapult on Saturday at 11 a.m.
