People are often told to avoid emotional eating or mindlessly filling their faces with food to satisfy their feelings instead of their hunger.
But what about emotional cooking?
In her first cookbook, San Diego food blogger Holly Haines shares recipes inspired by her journey through life.
“I didn’t realize how often I used cooking as a form of meditation until I began looking through my recipes and thinking about what was happening at the time they were written. Then, I saw the pattern. I make bread when I’m stressed. I make dim sum when I’m anxious. I crave Filipino food when I’m a tainch lonely,” she writes in the introduction to “How To Eat Your Feelings.”
The book, which is an extension of Haines’ blog, “From My Impossible Tiny Kitchen,” has recipes for feelings that range from annoyed to thankful.
Haines talks about the inspiration behind the book Thursday on Midday Edition.
