A series of workshops on the 10-year Salton Sea management plan are taking place in Imperial and Riverside counties.

The workshops will give community members an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the plan.

The sea is the state's largest lake and is located in Imperial and Riverside counties. The lake is shrinking and thus exposing playa or lakebed, which becomes airborne dust when the wind blows.

The 10-year Salton Sea management plan lays out a timeline for building habitat on exposed playa and for dust suppression projects.

Comite Civico del Valle, an Imperial County-based nonprofit, is helping to facilitate the meetings. The next one is on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Del Rio Community Center in Brawley. The full workshop schedule can be found online.

On Tuesday's Midday Edition, Luis Olmedo, executive director, Comite Civico del Valle discussed the goals of the meetings.
