If you're feeling overwhelmed by the more than 180 restaurants offering $20/$30/$40 prix-fixe meal deals, San Diego Magazine food critic Troy Johnson has compiled his "Top 40" list of must-dine spots.
Femi Kuti, the eldest son of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, will no doubt get the dance floor going at the Belly Up Tavern tonight (Thursday, January 17), where he performs with his band the Positive Force. Kuti's forthcoming album "No Place for My Dream" (expected to come out early this year) returns to his Afrobeat roots and political songwriting.
For oenophiles who want to get away, head south of the border on Sunday for the day-long Baja Wine Tour through Baja's Guadalupe Valley (hailed as Mexico's Napa Valley). Enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of three wineries with a local wine expert, including a vineyard walking tour and production tour.
Jazz pianist and composer Erik Deutsch makes his San Diego debut Sunday at Space 4 Art in downtown San Diego, as part of Bonnie Wright's ongoing Fresh Sound Music Series. Deutsch, known for his own special blend of "psychedelic soul jazz" will perform with his three-piece band (Tony Mason on drums, Jon Gray on trumpet and voice, and Jeff Hill on bass).
