Even native San Diegans may be surprised to learn that a significant event in the history of the labor movement took place right here. This year marks the 100th anniversary of San Diego's Free Speech Fight and an exhibit will be opening up in Balboa Park recognizing those engaged in a battle against a city ordinance that banned public speaking in the area around 5th and E streets downtown.
