San Diegan man returns to Somalia to help famine victims.
GUESTAbdulmalik Buul, chairman San Diego Somali Youth League
San Diego resident Abdulmalik Buul was just five years old when he left Somalia.
Twenty years later, he's made the emotional trip back to his homeland offering assistance to those hit hard by a famine that U.N. officials say has killed tens of thousands of people.
As chairman of the San Diego Somali Youth League, he helped raise $30,000 to help provide food, tents and medical supplies. Buul tells KPBS it was traumatic seeing so many living in poverty, but it renewed his dedication to helping Somalia's famine victims.
