Saudi Government Curbs Religious Police

Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry has ordered the controversial religious police in the conservative Wahhabi kingdom to stop detaining or interrogating citizens suspected of violating Islamic law. The decree comes as members of the force face charges stemming from the deaths of two men while in custody. Human rights advocates hope the changes mean the government is serious about reining in the religious police.
