U.S. Food, Health Items Rejected by China

China is dissatisfied with several food shipments imported from the United States. The move comes after growing international concern and stepped up inspection of Chinese imports in the U.S. Officials with China's food safety agency called the U.S. shipments unacceptable and unsanitary.

The rejected shipments include health supplements, power-drink mixes, pistachios and raisins. Little has been said about the reasons behind the decision to reject the U.S. food, but a Web site posting asked local officials to step up the inspection and quarantine on imported food products from the U.S. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
