UPDATE: 6:30 p.m., Feb. 10, 2020:
One person tested positive for the coronavirus at UC San Diego medical center in Hillcrest, the CDC announced Monday.
The person was one of the four people who were quarantined at UCSD Health last week after being evacuated from Wuhan, China to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement. Seven people in total have been taken to local hospitals for treatment.
"CDC is conducting a thorough contact investigation of the person who has tested positive to determine contacts and to assess if those contacts had high-risk exposures," CDC spokeswoman Ana Toro told KPBS via email.
Frank Wuscinski and his 3-year-old daughter, Annabel, had been under observation at Rady Children's Hospital but tested negative for the virus Friday. They are now back in quarantine at MCAS Miramar
This is the first confirmed coronavirus case in San Diego and the 13th in the U.S. There are now seven confirmed cases in California. The person who tested positive is being held in isolation at the Hillcrest medical center.
It is unclear Monday evening how this may affect the more than 200 people under quarantine at MCAS Miramar.
Worldwide, there have been more than 1,000 deaths from the coronavirus, including one American in Wuhan.
