A community health clinic is coming to Poway.
Operated by Escondido-based Neighborhood Healthcare, the new clinic is designed to be a medical home for 7,500 people.
The clinic has 15 exam rooms and its own lab.
In addition to offering primary care to people of all ages, the clinic will also provide psychiatric care to children and adolescents.
Dr. Rakesh Patel, CEO of Neighborhood Healthcare, said even though Poway is an affluent community, it has a lot of low-income residents, too.
“There’s about 12,000 individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 here in Poway that don’t have insurance," he said. "And that’s really our mission. We want to help those patients achieve their maximum health and their well-being.”
The new clinic will be named after local philanthropists Alan and Debbie Gold, who provided a key financial gift.
The Gold Family Health Center will open April 16.
