Amazon Mails Toy Catalogs Ahead of Black Friday
Amazon will mail toy catalogs to millions of potential customers ahead of the holiday shopping season. The digital retailer is trying the traditional marketing approach to target some of the market share left in the wake of Toys "R" Us closing its locations earlier this year. Amazon is also offering free two-day shipping as part of its overall holiday strategy.
SeaWorld Announces Continued Growth
SeaWorld announced new quarterly numbers this week that show a nearly 10-percent jump in attendance and revenue during the summer months. The latest report is part of a recent trend showing a strong turnaround. SeaWorld’s parent company also revealed this week that it will not build a theme park branded hotel at its San Diego property.
Ford Buys Electric Scooter Startup
The electric scooter trend is drawing interest from big names in the transportation business. This week, automaker Ford bought scooter startup Spin. The deal is reported to be worth tens of millions of dollars. The purchase follows Ford’s recent sponsorship of a dockless bicycle startup.
