Reptiles And Animal Habitats At Living Coast Discovery Center

Reptiles And Animal Habitats At Living Coast Discovery Center

Evening Edition anchor Dwane Brown is back exploring “Our Wild San Diego.” On Friday, Brown returned to the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista.

The center is home to more than 350 animal and plant species, and sits on the 316-acre Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.

In his series "Our Wild San Diego," KPBS anchor Dwane Brown takes you to places in San Diego County to discover the animals and plants that live here. He explores everything from sea creatures to birds to reptiles and shows the habitats where they live. Along the way, you meet the people working to protect our local environment.

Brown spoke with Sherry Lankston, guest experience manager at the center, and Kurt Roblek with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Brown also got to meet a tortoise and some snakes, and learned about different types of animal habitats in San Diego and how birds “talk.”

Last month, Brown visited the center to see some aquatic animals found off San Diego's coast.

A big decision awaits some voters this April as the race for San Diego County’s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
