San Diego County Launches Campaign Against Childhood Obesity
The county has unveiled a new campaign aimed at getting kids to adopt healthy behaviors.

The fight against childhood obesity took center stage in Chula Vista today. County officials unveiled a new campaign.

It's called "5210 Every Day."

It encourages kids to: Eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables; limit TV time to two hours or less; get at least one hour of physical activity; and drink zero sodas.

The county's Cheryl Moder directs the initiative. She admitted it's tough for people to be healthy when they're surrounded by fast food and video games.

"At the same time, families need to understand the choices they should be making," Moder said. "And this effort, this campaign that we're launching today, is really all about that."

Moder said Chula Vista was chosen as the site to kickoff the campaign, because it has the highest childhood obesity rates in the county.

A recent survey in Chula Vista school revealed one out of three girls and one out of four boys are obese.
