A broken water main created a muddy mess in a Vista neighborhood early Friday morning.
At around 2:45 a.m., a PVC pipe broke and sent water gushing in the 1200 block of Coventry Road.
The Vista Fire Department and Vista Irrigation District responded. It took crews about 45 minutes to shut off the water, but not before it flooded a woman’s driveway and garage and left behind a sinkhole.
Ten homes were without water and four had flood or mud damage.
Water district crews were working to repair the pipe. A private contractor was also called in to clean up the mess.
