Scattered showers and thunderstorms heading into San Diego County's deserts and mountains Wednesday could lead to flash flooding in some areas, forecasters said.
Around 1:40 p.m., the National Weather Service canceled a previous flash flood watch for a portion of southwest California.
"Drier air is moving into southern California, limiting the convection over the mountains and deserts," the weather service reported. "Although a stray shower or thunderstorm may still develop, the threat of flash flooding is limited.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar spotted heavy showers and a few heavy thunderstorms moving toward the lower deserts and mountain desert slopes.
An urban and small stream flood advisory was also issued for the East County, but was later canceled because the threat had diminished.
