Toll Reductions Call for Celebration

It is 5:15 p.m. and the only thing separating you from winding down at home is the grueling bumper-to-bumper traffic. Using a toll road would be nice, but cost is daunting. Thankfully the price to drive down those roads to freedom is dropping.

Starting tomorrow, tolls on the South Bay Expressway, also known as the State Route 125 toll road, are decreasing by as much as 40 percent. Prices for those using the automated tolling device FasTrak will range from 50 cents to $2.75. Cash or credit users will pay $2 to $3.50.

Saving money at the tolls calls for a celebration. Tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. a free community celebration will be held at Otay Ranch Town Center, 2015 Birch Road, Chula Vista. Expect to see live music, face painters and a giant truck filled with video game consoles.
