Tony-Award winner and UK platinum-selling Alfie Boe brings his second television concert special to PBS, featuring songs from "Storyteller," his latest critically acclaimed album. Coming off his success in England with three top ten albums, two sold-out tours and over a million albums sold, Boe is poised to continue winning over U.S. fans.
"Alfie Boe – Storyteller At The Royal Albert Hall" is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations beginning August 2013 (Not in San Digeo? Check local listings).
The Huffington Post raved that Boe and PBS are “a match made in heaven.” "Alfie Boe – Storyteller At The Royal Albert Hall" reinforces that sentiment and showcases Boe’s ability to cross genres effortlessly in front of an audience of all ages.
Featuring a full 19-piece band, the concert casts a wide net of selections from Boe’s repertoire, with tracks from his new "Storyteller" album, including Roy Orbison’s “It’s Over,” “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore,” Elvis Presley’s “It’s Only Love” and “If I Can Dream,” and The Rolling Stones’ “Shine a Light.” Boe also performs a selection of classical arias and, of course, “Bring Him Home,” his signature song from his acclaimed turn as Jean Valjean in "Les Misérables."
Alfie Boe’s story is what dreams are made of. Coming from humble beginnings as a working-class mechanic, he went on to become a celebrated Broadway actor cast by the legendary, award-winning director Baz Luhrmann in his 2002 production of Puccini’s "La Bohème," for which he won a Tony Award.
He then was able to realize his dream as a recording artist, with three studio albums under his belt, collaborations with an array of A-list artists including Robert Plant, Queen, Alice Cooper, Renée Fleming and Nick Jonas, among others, and his own autobiography, "Alfie – My Story," published in the UK. Boe has already completed two successful U.S. tours, with additional dates in the works for early 2014.
