Nutragenomics tells us that the foods you eat talk directly to your genes. You have the choice to eat in a way that turns on genes that keep you healthy or make you sick. Most people think of their genes like an evil monarchy that condemned them to be sick. Daniel and Tana Amen turn that notion on its head to give viewers much more control over the health of their bodies and minds.
The Omni Health Revolution is a bipartisan plan that bridges the gap between strict vegetarian diets and extreme high protein diets. That diet program is based on 70 percent plant based foods and 30 percent high quality protein. It is the perfect balance for optimal health and performance. Participants find it gives them better energy, memory, and mood, plus a slimmer waistline.
As an ICU nurse, Tana knows a lot of uncomfortable ways to keep people alive for a long time. But she wants a high quality life and has adopted the concept of health span instead of lifespan.
Health span is how long you live in a healthy state and are able to enjoy looking and feeling your best, living with passion, and having the greatest resistance to disease. And the thing is, most of us don’t have to eat an extreme diet to enjoy a long, healthy life.
This public television program is divided into three parts, corresponding to the three phases of the Omni Health Revolution. First, viewers learn how to use food as medicine to actually reverse illness, including which foods to choose and which ones to lose.
Then the duo discusses the simplest and most effective ways to exercise, forget killing yourself. Viewers also will get more practical tips on incorporating this plan into their lives, including how to do it on a budget and even when you travel.
In final part, there is a discussion on how to mimic calorie restriction, to help optimize metabolism. This program is not about deprivation, but abundance. Plus, there is a discussion of how to get the people you love involved.
