Antiques Roadshow: Salt Lake City, Utah - Part Three

In Salt Lake City, Utah, this direct descendant of a prominent 19th-century Mormon family proudly displays two rare pieces of Utah history passed down from his great-grandfather: a Mormon textile advertisement for military supplies and Brigham Young's Invasion Proclamation of 1857. Both documents recall a time of hostilities between the Mormons and the U.S. government during the administration of President James Buchanan. The impeccable provenance and rarity of these pieces lead appraiser Ken Sanders of Ken Sanders Rare Books to estimate a market value of $10,000 to $15,000 for the pair.
