Drug companies Pfizer and BioNTech announced in a press release that lower doses of their COVID-19 vaccine provided a safe immune response in children 5 to 11 years old.
The findings are a welcome sign for parents and pediatricians alike, who have been waiting for further guidance on vaccination for younger school-aged children.
Dr. Stephen Spector is a professor of pediatrics and member of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital. He joined Midday Edition on Monday with more on the findings.
