The COVID-19 pandemic has created a number of unsung heroes — from the person who delivers groceries to your door to the mail carriers and sanitation workers who work every day to keep the wheels of society turning. And of course, health care workers, especially those in the hardest-hit areas of our county.
A healthcare leader from the South Bay is now receiving recognition for her work. Ana Melgoza of San Ysidro Health has helped to lead the organization through some of the worst of the pandemic - and she’s among three women honored by the MANA de San Diego organization during Women’s History Month.
Melgoza, vice president of external affairs for San Ysidro Health, joins Midday Edition on Tuesday to discuss what she's seen at San Ysidro Health over the last year and her reaction to the recognition from MANA.
