More people across the county are seeking COVID testing as the Delta variant is causing an increase in people sickened from and exposed to the virus. Now both healthcare providers and local health officials are working on plans to rapidly increase testing capacity in San Diego County.

As local health care providers adapt to growing Delta infections, increasing testing capacity has also become a priority.
San Diego Union-Tribune health care reporter Paul Sisson joined KPBS Midday Edition on Tuesday to discuss his reporting on the rising demand for COVID testing in the region and how officials are responding.
"Until this Delta variant has fully moved through the community - and/or a lot more people start getting vaccinated," Sisson said, "I think you are going to see quite a demand for testing."
