A 26-year-old man who escaped from San Diego Central Jail after four days in custody on suspicion of drug charges remained at large Wednesday, sheriff's officials said.
Don Andrea Torrillo disappeared from the downtown jail around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. All the other inmates were accounted for, and authorities were looking into the circumstances of how he was able to escape, officials said.
Torrillo was arrested in Santee on Friday on suspicion of possession of drugs for personal use and sale and possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of drugs after a search warrant was served at a home in the 700 block of Singing Trails Drive, according to a sheriff's department statement.
Sheriff's officials said Torrillo does not have a history of violence.
Torrillo is 5 feet 9, 150 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his upper left bicep, according to the sheriff's department. He was last seen wearing a black or blue sleeveless shirt with a star in the middle, khaki shorts and slippers.
Sheriff's officials said he is known to frequent El Cajon, Santee and San Diego.
