Lakeside Brush Fire Fully Contained; Power Restored To Most Customers

Cal Fire tweets that it is on the scene of a brush fire in Lakeside, May 1, 2014.

A 4-acre brush fire that started around 7 a.m. Thursday in Lakeside is fully contained, and the cause is under investigation.

Early reports attributed the fire near the 7-Eleven at Lake Jennings Park Road and El Monte Road to a blown transformer, but San Diego Gas & Electric disputed that in a tweet.

"News reports claiming a transformer exploded in a Lakeside substation are false. There was no transformer explosion," the SDG&E tweet said.

Earlier, At one point, SDG&E said at 8,395 of its Lakeside-area customers were without electricity, but power has been restored for most of the area.
