The campaign for San Diego mayor came down to fewer than 10,000 votes in the unofficial tally. Winner Bob Filner was most popular in the city’s core and in its southern reaches. Carl DeMaio attracted supporters throughout the northern part of the city from his home district in Rancho Bernardo to La Jolla.
Spend some time with this interactive map, which will show you how the votes were distributed across the city’s 784 precincts. Over the next couple of weeks, we also will show you the voting patterns in other races of interest, including the still-contested 52nd congressional district.
The shading of the precincts is based on the margin by which a candidate won that precinct. The darker the color, the wider the margin. These results are unofficial, and we will update the map as the San Diego County Registrar of Voters releases new information.
