A Founder of Taco Shop Poets Writes About the Stories His Father Told Him

Tom Fudge: Adrian Arancibia started making his mark on the San Diego poetry world with a project called Taco Shop Poets. Adrian was one of the founders of the group, started by a handful of Latino writers. Their idea was to bring poetry to some unusual settings and infuse it with their Latino heritage and language.

Today Adrian is still in San Diego, teaching at Mirimar College, among other things. And he's still a poet. In fact, he has a new book out called Atacama Poems . He calls it a homage to his grandparents who lived in a poor, dry mining region of Chile, the country where Adrian was born.

Adrian Arancibia will read from his new book of poetry, Friday at 7 p.m. at San Diego City College’s International Book Fair.
