Two San Diego Congressmen have been called to testify in the trial of a defense contractor accused of bribing former Congressman Duke Cunningham. Charles Davis reports from Washington.
Brent Wilkes is charged with bribing Cunningham in order to receive millions of dollars in defense contracts. San Diego Republicans Duncan Hunter and Darrel Issa are among 13 congressmen who are fighting their subpoenas.
Issa says he barely knew Wilkes.
Issa : I didn't work with Mr. Wilkes, I didn't have any kind of contact with him at all. I met him before I was a congressman. I went to a foundation event while I was a congressman in which I contributed to a warrior foundation. So I don't have the kind of link that would ever be appropriate, as far as I know.
Issa and the other lawmakers say they will not testify unless the defense can give them a specific reason. All were members of defense-related committees. And Hunter and Issa both received campaign contributions from Wilkes.
