Yoga Could Be Key in Achieving New Year's Resolutions
It’s New Year’s resolution time. And while each of us may have a different goal, calming the mind may be the key to achieving most. Ellen Ciurczak explains.
The U.S Government reports the top resolutions include losing weight, getting fit, quitting smoking, drinking less alcohol and reducing stress. According to fitness expert Rose Zahn, one activity that can help with all of those is – yoga.
Zahn: It strengthens the entire body. It teaches us how to breathe and how to move. it can be somewhat cardiovascular, and of course, the mind/body component, of quieting the mind, helping to focus the mind, really helps with stress management.
Zahn says it’s the quieting of the mind that helps with many resolutions, as it aids in cutting down on emotional eating, stress based smoking and drinking, and reducing tension in general.
