Thousands expected to participate in National Night Out

The first National Night Out was launched 23 years ago. It was a grass-roots effort aimed at getting people to know their neighbors while keeping an eye out for crime. It has also strengthened ties between police and the communities they serve. In San Diego County, thousands of people are expected to get involved. Leaving on the porch light, chatting outside with neighbors or attending a community event.
