DISCO RIOT presents: Queer Mvmnt Fest 2024
June 9-15, 2024
Multiple venues: City Heights Performance Annex, Mingei International Museum and CEART Tijuana, MX

From the organizers:
DISCO RIOT presents San Diego’s only queer-focused movement-arts festival, Queer Mvmnt Fest. Now in its third year under the direction of Lead Artists Desiree Cuizon and Trystan Merrick, the festival empowers and showcases 2SLGBTQ+ artists through performances, workshops, panel discussions, and a film screening. The wide variety of free programming offers queer focused spaces as well as offerings for the general public. This year, as a part of San Diego/Tijuana World Design Capital 2024, Queer Mvmnt Fest is partnering with Tijuana based artists to amplify collaborative possibilities for queer artists in our region.

In-person events feature performances and workshops from local and visiting artists: Adam Shay, Alejandro Bastien-Olvera Alyah Baker, Amber St. James, Amelia Rose Estrada & Gabriel Mata, Annalise carrillo constantz & Melí gómez, Christina Madueño-Delgado, Chrysalis Dance Crew, Era James Molina, Esteban Rosales & Avery Polster, Jade Prime, Jenna Wu-Cardona, Lavina Rich, Rebecca Lee, Riy Mutakabbir, Sam Arrow, and Shannon Yu. Workshops are held at City Heights Performance Annex, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Downtown, and ConnectArte (Tijuana, Mx). Performance venues include City Heights Performance Annex, Mingei International Museum, and Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART).

The Film Screening includes selections of movement-based films from around the world. Chosen from more than 500 submissions, the films will screen at City Heights Performance Annex and online. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for film awards and winners will be announced on the last day of the festival.

All Queer Mvmnt Fest events are free! Pre-registration / RSVP highly recommended as audience/participant capacity is limited.
