City Ballet of San Diego's 'Dracula'

Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 8 PM
California Center for the Arts: Escondido
All Ages
$39-$99

A diverse collection of ballets by three different choreographers, where each ballet conveys a spirit and emotion in the choreographer’s signature style.

Dracula World Premiere

Reimagining Bram Stoker’s horror classic, Resident Choreographer and master storyteller Geoffrey Gonzalez weaves a tale around Countess Dracula and the other women she turns into vampires.

Various pieces by Franz Liszt (1811-1886)

The genius of the great Russian-born choreographer, George Balanchine, has never blazed more brightly than in Emeralds, Act 1 of his famous full evening ballet Jewels. Emeralds is a representation of French elegance, considered “an evocation of France – the France of elegance, comfort, dress, perfume,” recalling the 19th century dances of the French Romantics.

Pelléas et Mélisande (1898) and Shylock (1889) by Gabriel Fauré

Last performed by City Ballet of San Diego in November 2016

City Ballet of San Diego’s performance of Emeralds is licensed by The George Balanchine Trust

Meet the signature versatility of international sensation choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochao as nine dancers move with and manipulate hoops, evoking harmony and continuity. Ecliptic is the ideal introduction to the inventive works of this prolific contemporary choreographer.
