The date is set and the artists are selected for Vanguard Culture’s second ENVZN24: Urban Art Takeover. The biennial visual and performing arts festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.
ENVZN24 Urban Art Takeover is a one-of-a-kind visual and performing arts festival that will transform urban areas of the Commercial Street corridor in Logan Heights with multi-sensory art interventions by creatives from both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. The ENVZN24 hub will be located at The Soap Factory at 2995 Commercial St, San Diego, California.
Experience an unforgettable fusion of creativity and culture at ENVZN24! Immerse yourself in live dance performances, captivating theatre and music acts, mesmerizing large-scale puppetry, and a stunning fashion show by Fashion Week San Diego. Wander through art installations enhanced with curated soundscapes, indulge in a mini film festival, savor delicious food and drinks from local vendors, and so much more. Don't miss this extraordinary celebration of cross-border artistry!
Building on the success of the inaugural event last fall, programming will now be presented in daytime and evening sessions. “By programming two sessions, we are able to increase the number of activities as well as present more family-friendly activities in the daytime,” explained Vanguard Culture Founder and Executive Director Susanna Peredo Swap.
A food truck court has been added for festival goers to enjoy while experiencing the wide variety of bi-national presentations.
Nearly 20 arts organizations and 100 artists will be participating. They include: San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery, Álvaro Gabriel Díaz Rodríguez, XoQue Art in Motion, Debby & Larry Kline, Diane Campana, Doris Bittar, Outside the Lens, Jon Savage, Laura Luna Castillo, Monty Montgomery, MALU, Natalie Gonzalez, ArtWalk SD, John Mireles, Jax Milliano & BLAC, Early Girl Creations, Firme Voices Poetry, So Say We All, The Rosin Box Project, Malashock Dance Company, Fashion Week San Diego, Animal Cracker Conspiracy, Common Ground Theatre, Fern Street Circus, SISU Dance Company, DrumatiX, Salvador Corona, Voices of our City Choir, and Poets Underground.

2PM – 6PM DAYTIME FESTIVAL - Family-friendly art experiences, mini circus, spoken word, large-scale puppets, steamroller printmaking, live music, fashion show, food and drink vendors, and more.
4PM – 6PM: VIP Wine + Culinary Experience at the Soap Factory Courtyard.
6PM – 10PM EVENING FESTIVAL - Immersive art installations, mini-film fest, multi-media and virtual reality experiences, avant-garde fashion show by Fashion Week San Diego, live theatre, music and dance; food and drink vendors and more.
