Join us for the Black History Month SOUND & LIBERATION LISTENING PARTY!

Join us at the Hill Street Country Club on Sunday, February 25th for SOUND & LIBERATION, a night of experimental performance celebrating Black expression. We're thrilled to host an evening of Black ambient artist with live music from Joy Guidry, Niecy Blues and Myles Ortiz-Green. Goldie will kick off the evening with vinyl accompaniment. Our gallery will be transformed into a moody lounge, inviting guests to immerse themselves in poetic atmospheres sculpted in sound, drawing from traditions of jazz, gospel, and R&B. Come join us for an evening of sonic exploration and cultural celebration!

Light refreshments including snacks, beer, wine, and mocktails will be available for purchase. This is an all ages event

About the Performers:

Goldie All vinyl DJ and founder of Goldies Record Co., an independent record store supplying new and vintage vinyl + art in Oceanside, CA.

Myles Ortiz-Green

Los Angeles native Myles Ortiz-Green is a multidisciplinary artist, pianist and composer and explores the ideas of interconnectedness, digital identity, decadence, and the “in-between” in their work. As a pianist with a background in classical and jazz studies, they combine analogue and digital electronics and improvisation to manipulate samples and field recordings.

Joy Guidry

Radical self-love, compassion, laughter, and the drive to amplify Black artmakers and noisemakers comprise the core of bassoonist and composer Joy Guidry’s work. Their performances have been hailed by The San Diego Union Tribune as “lyrical and haunting...hair-raising and unsettling.” Joy was born in Houston, Texas, into a creative family that played a big part in who they’ve become today. A versatile improviser and a composer of experimental, daring new works that embody a deep love of storytelling.

Niecy Blues

South Carolina singer and producer Niecy Blues describes their songwriting process like an undertow: “I feel a strange pull, and let it carry me, following swirling leaves… whole days roll by, forgetting about the body.” Her full-length debut, Exit Simulation, captures this sense of deep-rooted divination, cycling between simmering ballads, ghosted R&B, downtempo gospel, and looped vocal improvisations – often within the same track.
