Howell Foundation for Women's Health Summer Symposium

The Doris A. Howell Foundation is hosting a half-day Summer Symposium with prominent local physicians presenting the latest research findings impacting women’s health. The speakers and women’s health topics include:

• Maternal Health – Maryam Tarsa, MD, MAS is a clinical professor in maternal fetal medicine at University of California San Diego. She has participated in the California Maternal Quality Care Coalition in multiple statewide projects including collaborative efforts to decrease cesarean section rate, decrease maternal cardiac morbidity and mortality through prenatal screening algorithms, and prevention of preeclampsia.

• Anxiety/Depression – Fadi Joseph Nicolas, MD is chief medical officer for Sharp Behavioral Health. He treats psychiatric and addiction medicine disorders. Dr. Nicolas is Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Preventive Medicine – Addiction Medicine.

• Cardiovascular Health – Robert M Stein, MD FAHA, is the medical director of Cardiac Rehab at Palomar Health. He is currently the longest-serving member of the medical staff at Palomar Medical Center.
